Sustenance {a poem + local baguette delivery}

Necessity is the mother
of invention --
mothers everywhere
know this in our bones
as we coax the last bit
of white that clings
to the inside of the shell,
as our hands assemble
what's on the shelves
into sustenance,
as we transform raw need
into bread and poetry.

A local friend, Lisa, is a wonderful poet, single mom of two teens, and social work grad student who has supported her family for many years cleaning houses. Since the quarantine began, she has turned to breadmaking as a means to both survival and contribution.

Her baguettes, baked fresh daily with love, are $5 per loaf. There is a two loaf minimum, with free delivery to local Amherst/Northampton (MA) areas.

If you’d like to place an order or make a donation (she is donating loaves to the Amherst Survival Center), text (413) 835-1291.

We must carry each other through.
